Carl Wiberg

FOR

Commissioner of

 the Revenue

about carl

Carl Wiberg is a twenty year resident of Fauquier County seeking election in November 2019 to the office of Commissioner of the Revenue. Carl believes county residents have a right to their property being assessed equitably and professionally.  Citizens should be treated respectfully at all times and transparency in county government benefits all.  Having worked with thousands of taxpayers in several counties within the Commonwealth, Carl appreciates the others' perspective, considers relevant factors, and provides the very best level of service his years of experience can offer.

Carl was born in Virginia in 1962 and grew up in Fairfax. He met his wife, Joan, when they were high school seniors. They married and have two grown children, Cade and Emma.  Early on they recognized their desire to raise their family in a more rural environment, and purchased a home in Warrenton. They have enjoyed being a part of the community and consider Fauquier County their home.

His Platform

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Carl's  priority is to promote open lines of communication with all county citizens.  Situations arise daily in which citizens require assistance or information from their government. Those interactions must be courteous, efficient, and professional.

EXPERIENCE

For more than 12 years Carl has studied real estate markets throughout our state.  As an appraiser he has witnessed both boom and bust cycles and has firsthand  knowledge of how difficult things are during times of instability.  The candidate recognizes that assessments indicate how markets have performed in the past and that statistical analysis of relevant data allows us to understand and explain the basis of that assessment.

ACCOUNTABILITY

I pledge to be accountable and responsible to the tax payers of our county and to adhere to Virginia codes.  I further pledge to work with all elected officials to the advantage of the citizens of our county.

TECHNOLOGY

New assessment tools are developed every year.  They are improving in both their flexibility and sophistication.  I will keep up to date with these improvements and if they can be shown to save time or money, I will advocate for their purchase and implementation.

Office Efficiency

It is imperative for the commissioner to be sure that his staff has the support and training needed to complete tasks quickly and correctly.  Personal conversations with other commissioners have revealed that our Fauquier COR office enjoys a favorable reputation throughout the state. Carl believes this is primarily due to the longevity and experience

of both the retiring commissioner and the majority of the staff.
